Modern Trade Manager

Job Type: Full Time

Reports To: Channel Manager - Modern Trade

- The Modern Trade Manager would be responsible for the overall performance of assigned Modern Trade key account being handled centrally. 


- He/she would assist the Channel Manager- Modern trade in delivering the overall sales objectives, supervises, fine-tunes and monitors the execution and takes pro-active initiatives to cease every opportunity to increase the sales in accordance with the company's policies and strategies. 


- He/she would discuss and set clear targets and strategies for accomplishment of the same in alignment with the Channel Manager- Modern trade and track its fulfillment. He/she would also be responsible in accomplishment of their targets.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Business Objectives :

- Planning and negotiating strategic alliances with key chains.

- Developing quarterly activity/promotional calendar specific to outlet and chain

- Strategize/ execute zone specific brand objectives within budget and time

- Liaoning with Marketing/SCM for branding activities at store

- To evolve and achieve strategic annual operating business plans for the defined key accounts.

- Develop modern trade by conducting strategic alliance tie-ups, consumer promotions, building relations and image of overall existence of the company in Modern Trade.

- To achieve volume and value objectives of the assigned zones within budget, time and policy parameters through efficient control of network under charge.

- Accountable for controlling prominent shelf space and merchandising unit positioning in all key accounts.

Marketing Liaoning :

- To work coactively with all brand management team to develop consumer awareness/ image/ preference by executing planned consumer promotions and events at quarterly basis.

- Proactively own a product launch calendar and help product manager in planning and launching new product, clearly identifying its need, communication, incremental volume, sell-in-norms, merchandising norms and the brand strategy.

- Execute marketing events and promotional programme by conducting category wise promotions basis the outlets/marketing activity calendar.

Financial Responsibilities : 


- Operate/ achieve channel costs as budgeted for the year


 - Documentation and prior approval of all terms of trade for audit purposes 


- Settling chain wise claims (damages, trade scheme, misc. debit notes) within stimulated timeframe


 - Submitting NOCs (No Objection Certificate) from vendors on a quarterly basis

Outlet Responsibilities : 


- Responsible for correct placements and maintaining all company marketing assets in coordination with the category, SCM and Marketing team. 


- Maintain a database of all Modern Trade outlets (administrative, commercial, business details) 


- Plan a regular (monthly) journey plan with regional modern trade personnel

Reporting/Administration :

- To report accurate and timely information as scheduled and in the defined regular format

- To monitor activities and sales promotions on weekly/monthly basis to determine deviations from plans and take necessary corrective actions

Competition Tracking :

- To track competitor's activities monthly in chain/ modern trade outlets. Document and communicate the same to the brand and sales management team in the monthly review meeting

- To ensure proper and immediate feedback for appreciation and timely action

Qualification : 

- Graduation from any domain

- MBA would be preferred

- Diploma/Degree in Business Management or related subject would be preferred

- Minimum 5 to 8 years of rich experience in sales is desirable

- Minimum 3 years of experience of handling Modern Trade in India (Vijay Sales, Reliance, Croma, etc.)

- A high degree of strategic forward thinking

- Strong communication and negotiation skills

- Excellent command on spoken and written English

- Analytical skills to handle complex situations

- Good knowledge of MS Office
