Vodafone - Business Development Manager - Mpesa (4-8 yrs)
m-pesa BDM will be responsible for creating and fulfilling demand for m-pesa at the zone. The person will be responsible for managing the development of channel, eco systems, merchant networks and manpower pool. One of the key functions shall be to support the zone prepaid team in customer acquisition, agent expansion and merchant roll out. Other key responsibilities of this function will be to mobilize alternate channel (non-telecom) and to build synergy between the 2 channel streams for revenue growth. This position will work closely with ZME, ZCSI and ZM.
Following points capture the key responsibilities of the individual :
- Develop & own zone business plan to drive subscriber penetration, revenue growth and brand leadership in the zone
- Drive implementation of agreed business plan in sales, marketing and eco system development to meet biz goals for zone
- Develop a strong and efficient distribution mix to ensure market penetration, quality of service & compliance with regulatory requirement
- Define parameters and plan for merchant sign ups to create an effective eco system in urban and rural markets
- Efficient execution of all channel engagement and consumer promotion programs
- Maintain visibility at each of the touch points for m-pesa across telco and alternate channel
- Joint working with ZH, DAM, BM, VBS lead, RM, PSR, CSE and DSE for execution of agreed roadmap
- Single point of contact for all m-pesa development work in the zone inter phasing between ZCSI, ZME and sales teams
- Optimize utilization of funds for visibility, promotions and trade engagement
- Incorporate best practices from across the circle and other businesses to improve business
- Continuous improvement in operational quality and high level of customer satisfaction

Key Result Areas :
Following will be key deliverables coming from m pesa BDM
- Business ownership of m-pesa for the zone/branch
- Meeting projected subscriber numbers
- Delivery of DB agent width across the zone/branch and extraction from them
- Meet revenue targets for the Zone/Branch
- Regular business reviews with main line and alternate streams
- Development of eco systems - NGOs, MFIs, Corporates, Govt etc.
- Roll out of merchant network across the zone/branch
- Work alongside distribution/retail teams, on the job training & coaching
- Maintaining visibility at agents and merchants through budget optimization
Key Skills/Experience Required :
Mandatory skills :
- Overall 4-8 years of telecom/retail finance/banking/distribution experience
- Experience of working with large teams & organizations in various capacities in sales, project/program manager
- Experience to manage programs in multi-vendor and multi-product setup with stringent deadlines and quality

- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Maturity to get work done through teams that do not report directly to the position
- Clear, concise business communication style with attention to details
- Experience to interact with senior business executives
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with program stakeholders
