Vaco AV Content Curator Job Posting

Vaco is seeking experienced audio specialists with strong production backgrounds and editorial judgment to support the needs of a developing audio-video news ecosystem.

Candidates can expect a fast-paced, high-energy environment working on a collaborative team that delivers high-impact content in a timely manner. Successful candidates will be able to work well under deadline pressure and maintain a high level of quality while adhering to a defined style and policy.

The team operates on extended workday hours, as well as over weekends and on holidays, so flexibility is necessary.

Candidates will be required to complete an exercise to determine aptitude for the work.

Responsibilities :

- Tailor audio and video content (e.g., FLAC, MP3, WAV, etc.) for a variety of formats, including distribution on multiple devices

- Adhere to a regular (daily) content production schedule to meet strict deadlines

- Audit and post-produce audio news content to the highest standards

- Demonstrate excellent editorial judgment and understanding of current events

- Demonstrate ability to identify key elements of a news story

Required :

- BA/BS degree. The ideal candidate will have majored in journalism, communication or a related field

- Fundamental audio or video editing skills

- Ability to work quickly and efficiently to optimize audio for digital consumption

- Ability to learn new technologies quickly

- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills

- Comfortable maintaining spreadsheets and coordinating data entry

Preferred :

- Prior journalism experience

- Digital storytelling experience

- Audio production skills: ProTools or Adobe Audition

- Video production skills: Final Cut or Adobe Premiere
