Manager - Sales - Premium Cars Division (8-10 yrs)

Salary: - 50,000.00 - 70,000.00 per month
Overall Job Purpose:
- Achieves an agreed profitable return on the company's investment and provides the necessary planning, coordination and motivation of the Dealership's Management Team through strong leadership and the application of best business practices.
- Maximises Dealership profitability and return on investment through sales of vehicles, products, parts and labour while achieving the highest level of customer care, satisfaction and retention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership and direction to the Dealership team
- Personally demonstrates and encourages the Dealership team to demonstrate the JLR Customer First Behaviours in their daily activities and in all interactions with customers
- Personally role models and sets high standards of behaviour and ethics for all staff at the Dealership
- Builds and develops a stable team that works together to drive and deliver performance
- Inspires others to succeed by personal example
- Embeds franchise/brand culture ethos within the team and ensures high standards of quality and workmanship delivery
- Promotes a culture of learning and development, leading by example by constantly seeking to improve own skills and performance
- Develops a culture focused on developing lifetime relationships with customers
- Ensures that legal, environmental and health and safety requirements are adhered to by all, while ensuring the safety and security of people, vehicles and property
- Environment - Responsible for Overall environmental health and safety related matters
- Shapes and drives the development of the Dealership
- Sets the strategic direction for the business in line with the manufacturer's overall strategic objectives
- Creates, communicates and implements dealership strategy, policy and business planning for short (1 year), medium (3 year) and long (5+year) term
- Builds influential relationships with manufacturers, professional bodies and statutory representatives
- Fosters an atmosphere which encourages all team members to actively look for new business opportunities and innovative ways of working
- Ensures Dealership facilities are managed to support the JLR brand and to meet the needs of the business and legal/statutory compliance requirements (e.g. developing new facilities, managing maintenance and security of existing buildings, Health & Safety)
- Develops a Marketing/PR strategy for the Dealership and becomes involved in its implementation (e.g. through hosting events)
- Ensures that all staff understand and follow relevant aspects of JLR Operational Guidelines
- Manages Dealership finances
- Develops financial targets and budgets for the Dealership, and works with departmental managers to translate them into targets for their teams
- Develops stretching yet achievable budget profit plans which reflect company and manufacturer benchmarks
- Monitors financial progress and takes action to meet targets agreed in the business plan/budget
- Ensures operational efficiency of all departments by controlling cash flow, stocks, assets and liabilities to deliver overall profit targets
- Examines accounts, operating controls and composite figures to initiate improvement as required
- Controls costs and expenditure within budgets, reviewing all debtor situations (customer and warranty) on a weekly/monthly basis
- Increases profitability by continually reviewing the financial structure and making adaptations (e.g. sales and fleet discounts, parts and labour pricing)
- Monitors and sanctions all Dealership expenditure personally or via delegated structures
- Works with banks and other sources of finance to arrange funding
- Manages operations to achieve key targets and deliver continuous improvement
- Fosters positive manufacturer/franchise relationships and meets franchise standards and objectives
- Sets, agrees and achieves department profit margins as defined within a company budget
- Sets, agrees and achieves individual departmental Key Performance Indicators with each Manager
- Reviews administrative systems, processes and personnel needs to ensure the Dealership is operating within consumer/business law and requirements
- Ensures that effective processes, policies, systems and measurements are in place
- Constantly monitors and applies best management and operational practice principles from the wider automotive industry
- Ensures adequate measures are taken for the physical security of company assets. i.e. premises, equipment, vehicle and parts stocks
- Agrees labour levels with Directors and Managers
- Ensures the Dealership database is operated effectively and meets the eight principles of Data Protection legislation
- Works with and actively encourages colleagues to seek out and deliver continuous improvements to the service provided to customers
- Manages and develops teams
- Manages and develops own team by recruiting, coaching, developing and implementing performance management across the business
- Works with managers and staff to monitor training needs and ensure that training and development plans are in place and in addition access to learning resources
- Works with managers to plan staffing levels and ensure that staff across the Dealership are effectively recruited, managed, developed and rewarded
- Promotes teamworking and effective communication across the Dealership (e.g. by organising regular team meetings, sharing information)
- Develops and implements a logical succession plan for the whole business
- Develops and implements salary scales and incentive schemes in line with progress
