Manager - Business Development/Institutional Sales - Learning Centre (5-15 yrs)
Business Development Manager
Role: Business Development / Institutional Sales - Mindspark in government schools
This role is for you if you are strong in Institutional Sales and deeply interested in using your skills to make a larger impact. Would you like to bring a meaningful high-quality learning product to low-income children who deserve it the most-
This is an endeavour that is not restricted to some urban centres or just India, but aimed to eventually have a scalable impact across the nation and the world. Does the thought of playing a meaningful catalytic role by channelising the large sums of money spent in the education sector to improve learning outcomes excite you-
If yes, join the Large Scale Educations Program division of Educational Initiatives - a 16 year old institution that is internationally known for its work in measuring learning outcomes and creating solutions to making it happen.
EI's work has been recognised in a cover story of the Economist, captured in a Harvard Business School case, made it to the final rounds at Qatar Foundation's WISE Awards and demonstrated impact by several independent 3rd party evaluation agencies like J-PAL. All these recognition will act as solid Marketing collateral in your endeavour to seek philanthropy capital.
Your role is to take an existing implementation that is touching 100,000 children in 250 government and private schools and evangelise it to grow 100x to 10 million children in 5-10 States in 1-2 countries over the next 3-5 years. You would do this by raising philanthropic funding from
(1) corporate CSR heads - more than Rs. 20,000+ Crore is spent annually by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and education is the largest chunk and
(2) international foundations and multi-lateral aid agencies (eg. USAID, UKAid, UNICEF, World Bank, etc) that are interested in funding social development projects. Winning government tenders for learning software is also a third route that can be used.
Here are some reasons to join this meaningful Sales / Business Development role:
- There are 250 million children going to government schools everyday. Unless we act fast, these children are growing older and graduating from schools with little employable or life skills. Your work will directly ensure that these children are learning with understanding.
- You will be able to ensure that the CSR heads are getting a sound return on investment of their money.
- You will interact with EI's CEO and the Board of Directors who are all very passionate about serving this segment of the demographic.
- The monetary rewards will mimic entrepreneurship to the fullest extent - your basic needs will get covered and there is potential to make this financially satisfying - but your ultimate rewards will be creating something innovative and taking into scale under your leadership. An opportunity of a lifetime!
- You will need patience with some long sales cycles and ingenuity in seeking competitive grant funding.
Desired attributes in candidate:
- Preference given to candidates who have B2B / Institutional Sales experience
- Preference given to candidates who have experience in managing government relations or doing government sales; but not necessary.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in doing Sales - including cold-calling, seeking appointments and doing meetings, proposal writing, finalising contracts and winning repeat business
