Position Summary : Digital News Head.
- Define and execute strategy for online news business, including content, customer acquisition organic and paid channels, product portfolio management, monetization and new business initiatives
- Draw up 3-5 year business plan and define/ execute associated annual operating plans
- Leverage other group entities to drive synergies
- Organization building, talent development and resource management (both people & financial)
Job Responsibilities :
I. Strategy :
- Formulating business strategy and annual operating plan for the digital news business. Obtain approval for the same from Business Head & Board
- Communicate & cascade strategy to the Clickstart organization to enable effective execution
II. Organization Performance
- Set business/functional goals and annual operating metrics
- Drive business performance and report to the Business Head on matters related to performance and governance
- Overall P&L management of the online News business
Integrate Cross-Functional processes :
- Act as an integrator for all portals and functions across the business
- Drive collaboration and play a key role in conflict resolution (between subunits)
III Content Strategy :
- Define editorial philosophy and content strategy for each portal along with the respective Editorial teams
- Collaborate with other BU Editorial teams to leverage existing content and provide seamless experience to customers across mediums
- Review and modify content strategy regularly to provide 'best- in- class' content to consumers
IV Marketing & Innovation
- Draw up monthly and annual marketing plan to achieve annual targets.
- Initiate strategic alliances to drive awareness and customer acquisition.
- Drive innovation to demonstrate thought leadership and category disruption.
- Maintain relationship with key partners.
V. Systems, Processes & Technology :
- Drive development and implementation of 'best-in-class' systems, processes, policies & technology across the online news organization
- Keep abreast with the latest trends in the industry globally and incorporate them into the organization, as required
VI. People Management :
- For Organization
- Develop & Implement optimal operating structures along with buy-in from Business Head and board
- Create an organization that is able to attract and retain best-in-class talent
- For Vertical Heads
- Goal setting & reviewing performance of senior members of the news vertical
- Define unit-wide goal setting & performance management process
VII. Regulatory & Compliance :
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory and compliance related issues. Review and approve policies and drive their implementation.
