Digital Content Specialist
- The Digital Content Specialist supports authors, editors, and production editors with content creation in HTML and DITA-authoring tools. As a Digital Content Specialist, you will work closely with authors as they create instructions and assessments for print and digital products in an HTML-first authoring environment. The Digital Content Specialist will maintain content standards in XML, HTML, and XSLT to ensure the content is built for outputs in multiple formats.
- Write, edit, review, and create content for online courses and programs, self-study sessions, classroom lectures, and audio and video products. Responsible for quality control of documents and products and ensuring materials meet established standards. Assist in troubleshooting and analysis of content-related issues and communicate pertinent information to staff and faculty as necessary. Content requires specialized knowledge and/or an advanced degree.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Support product owners and content creators, including project scoping, training, and onboarding to content authoring tools
- Prioritize, develop, and maintain scripted solutions, including writing requirements, testing solutions, and maintaining versions
- Proactively troubleshoot and validate issues arising in XML and HTML source content
- Communicate system changes, outages, bugs, and updates to a broad user base
- Identify opportunities for automation in existing workflows
- Communicate and collaborate with vendors on specific projects and workflow solutions
Requirements :
- 1+ years experience in a technical role working with XML, HTML, and XSLT
- Experience working with XML editing software, XSLT, XPath, Command Line, and Regular Expressions
- Familiarity with content management or version control systems (e.g., Git or SVN)Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Desire to learn, adapt and change, and embrace new technologies to accommodate team/process needs
- Self-motivated, creative, organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field of study
Preferred Experience :
- Digital publishing background with direct experience developing to current EPUB spec
- Experience working with XSLT, XPath, or other scripting languages (JavaScript, Ruby, Python, etc.)Experience with Agile best practices
- Special consideration is given to familiarity with the OWA/Alfresco platforms
