Job Overview:
The Assistant Manager - Category is responsible for supporting the Category Manager in managing and optimizing a specific product category. This role involves strategic planning, market analysis, vendor management, inventory control, pricing, promotions, and sales performance tracking. The Assistant Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of category strategies that meet customer needs, drive sales, and achieve profitability targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Strategy Support : Assist in developing and executing category strategies to drive sales growth, improve profitability, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Market Analysis : Conduct regular market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks within the category.
Vendor Management : Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors. Assist in negotiating terms, pricing, and contracts to ensure competitive advantages for the category.
Inventory Management : Support inventory planning and control efforts to ensure optimal stock levels, minimize stockouts, and manage slow-moving products.
Pricing and Promotion : Collaborate with the Category Manager to implement effective pricing strategies, seasonal promotions, and marketing campaigns to drive sales and increase category visibility.
Sales Performance Tracking : Analyze sales data and KPIs to assess the performance of the category, identify areas for improvement, and take corrective actions as needed.
Cross-functional Collaboration : Work closely with marketing, supply chain, and sales teams to ensure alignment on category goals and successful execution of projects.
Product Lifecycle Management : Support in managing the product assortment, including product launches, discontinuations, and updates to meet market demands and customer preferences.
Customer Insights : Monitor customer feedback and behavior to ensure product offerings meet their needs and expectations.
Reporting : Prepare regular reports on category performance, sales trends, and inventory levels for management review.
Qualifications :
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field.
Experience : 2-4 years of experience in category management, retail, product management, or a similar field.
Skills:
