Responsibilities
- Category Management: Develop and implement strategies for category growth and profitability. Analyze market trends, consumer behaviour, and competitive landscape to inform category strategies. Manage the product life cycle from introduction to discontinuation.
- Product Selection and Pricing: Select and source products that meet consumer needs and align with company goals. Develop pricing strategies to maximize profitability while remaining competitive.
- Supplier Relationships: Negotiate with suppliers to ensure favourable terms and conditions. Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to secure better deals and exclusive products.
- Sales and Marketing Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to create and execute promotional activities. Develop category-specific marketing campaigns to drive sales and brand awareness.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels and avoid stockouts or overstock situations. Implement strategies to reduce inventory costs while maintaining product availability.
- Performance Analysis: Track and analyze sales performance, market share, and profitability of the category. Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
- Customer Insights: Gather and analyze customer feedback and preferences to guide product selection and category strategy. Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and opportunities.
- Compliance and Quality Control: Ensure that products comply with industry regulations and standards. Address any quality issues promptly and work with suppliers to resolve them.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience as a category manager in the retail industry in India.
- Strong understanding of the Indian market, consumer behaviour and retail trends.
- Proficiency in utilising Microsoft Office Suite, category management tools and software for data analysis and reporting.
- Flexibility to adapt to the changing market dynamics, consumer preferences and organisational priorities.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
