Job Description:
The primary job of an Associate Editor is to ensure that their edited text is readable, accurate, and ready for publishing while adhering to SEO and editorial guidelines. They will work with a team of writers and SEOs to develop and curate engaging content for the readers.
1. Ensure that the content is of highest quality.
2. Complete understanding of the visitor's needs and tweaking the content according to the guidelines.
3. A few specific guidelines to be followed while editing:
- Corrects spelling and grammar.
- Checks that the text is logically structured.
- Checks facts and raises queries with the author (whenever required).
- Checks that the images are correct.
- Ensures that the style is according to the company guidelines.
- Adds content wherever required to make the above happen.
- Ensures that the unity (leaving out unnecessary facts and maintaining the same style throughout the article) and flow (no transitional gaps) of the overall article is not lost.
- Composes grammatically correct sentences and paragraphs that combine factual information presented in an engaging manner (whenever required).
Desired Profile
- Prior experience in an editorial role in the digital space (online media)
- Excellent writing, copyediting, and proofreading skills in English
- Prior experience in team management
- A meticulous approach to work and an eye for detail
- The ability to maintain high-quality work while meeting tight deadlines
- An inquisitive mind
Qualification: English Literature, Mass Communication, Journalism degree with a good command over the English language
