CMIE - Executive/Manager - Business Development (1-5 yrs)
- CMIE is looking for candidates to join its sales team.
- CMIE is an established leader in the economic and business information industry in India. It has built
- India's largest database on the Indian economy and on Indian companies. It also conducts India's largest household survey.
- CMIE delivers information solutions to a variety of institutional users. These include banks, educational institutions, governments, professionals, corporates, etc.
- All CMIE services are sold entirely by reaching out to potential users directly, engaging with them to understand their information needs and finding solutions for them through appropriate offerings.
- We seek to expand this team in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai. Our expectations from candidates and the job description is provided below.
Education :
- The candidate should be knowledgeable in economics and finance. Fluency in economic and financial terms and a general awareness of business indicators is a necessary pre-requisite.
- Knowledge - economics: We expect the candidate to be fluent in all fast-frequency economic indicators such as GDP, inflation, IIP, BoP, etc. The candidate is not expected to be an expert economist but is expected to converse comfortably on these.
- Knowledge - finance: We expect the candidate to be fluent in understanding the quarterly financial statements released by listed companies and to understand the other information generally available in the public domain on listed companies. Knowledge of contents of Annual Reports of companies, financial statements such as profit and loss and balance sheet and ratios based on these is required.
- Fluency in English is critically important. The candidate must be able to clearly articulate and communicate in written and spoken English. Fluency in conversing, in an engaging manner, in a formal business environment comfortably in English is necessary.
- Ability to converse in other languages is an advantage, but it is not a substitute for proficiency in
English as described above.
Experience :
- The candidate should have at least 3 years of experience in direct selling to institutions such as banks, financial markets, educational institutions or corporates.
Job description:
- The overriding job and the objective is to build a strong relationship of business growth with existing and new clients and ensuring that this growth is based on value delivery to the client by useful application of CMIE services.
- The candidate is expected to be smart, innovative and professional in achieving the overriding objective.
Some necessary steps in this regard would include :
- understand CMIE services and their applications thoroughly
- understand and deploy CMIE processes and standard operating processes
- understand all existing clients assigned to the candidate
- identify new users at existing clients- premises
- identify cross-selling opportunities in existing users
- identify and reach out to new potential clients
- understand the information needs of current and new potential clients
- conceive of applications of CMIE services into the operations of clients
- demonstrate the use of CMIE services
- articulate a clear proposition that deploys CMIE services for the clients- benefit
- follow-up and close sales deals with the clients
- follow-up to ensure that the clients do benefit from the services
- ensure complete housekeeping of all records and minutes of meetings
- meet sales targets
- participate in internal meetings to discuss clients and their needs
- ensure continuous learning, upgradation of skills to remain competitive
