I now run a consultancy kartick.org.

We're looking for a person who can do both BD and sales. The goal is to generate so many leads we have to say no to many clients. Specifically, each engineer should be working on a project now, and should already have a project to work on next, with a client who has already paid an advance. This will be your immediate goal, due in one month after you join.

This will require both marketing and BD.

As a BD/salesperson, you will:

- Generate at least - 10 lakh of revenue a month.

- Learn to do sales calls better than any of us.

- Get information in these calls about the client that helps us increasing the chance of closing the sale, such as not asking for a high fee from a cash-strapped company, or conversely not asking for a low fee from a well-to-do company, or ways other than fee.

- Able to look at why clients are not converting and improve our sales pitch.

- Identify the right companies to pitch to, the right people in those companies to pitch to, and the right pitch to make.

- Understand clients' problems and position ourselves better in terms of what people are looking for.

- Avoid coming across as a salesperson, since people don't like to talk to a salesperson, or don't trust them.

As a marketer, you will:

- Generate a high-quality lead every week.

- Position me (Kartick) as a high-quality consultant that you would be lucky to work with.

- Create mindshare, so that everyone looking for my services hears about me.

- Figure out the right balance of push vs pull.

- Work both offline and online. Online includes different platforms like LinkedIn and Quora.

- Learn from our competitors like XNSIO.com. How do they market and position themselves, and what can we do better?

In more detail, we need someone who meets the following requirements:

- You can set up marketing and BD from scratch, not just working under a system that has already been set up by someone else.

- We are a tiny team of 4, so you will have to do all the work yourself.

- You take the initiative to proactively figure out things, not just follow directions given by someone else.

- You need to be self-managed: you know what to do, propose a plan, and execute it. As you work on the plan, you know how to prioritise your own work, and work on multiple things without forgetting any. You track progress and proactively flag problems. We're always here to clarify your questions and brainstorm with you, but you need to figure out your own work.

- You know how much time to spend on each task like, "Let me try this out for an hour. If it yields results, we can invest more".

- You can work at both a high level and at the level of individual tasks, with good attention to detail.

- You are not afraid of the unknown. Instead, you quickly experiment with new things in a structured way, gather data, analyse, and decide whether to iterate or move on to another effort.

- You're familiar with doing A/B tests, gathering data, verifying it's statistically significant and integrating the conclusions of the experiment into our marketing plan.

- You're eager to learn new things at the intersection of marketing and other disciplines like engineering or project management. For example, if I tell you how React is different from React Native, you don't say, "That's not my job". Instead, you listen attentively, and think about how you can apply this knowledge to make better sales calls.

- You should soon get to a point where you're better at both marketing and BD than any of us.

- You're complementary to my skills and way of thinking, and able to cover for my weak spots and generate ideas I wouldn't have generated.

- You don't hesitate to disagree and present an alternative way of looking at things.

- You're transparent and work in the best interests of the company. You don't have your own hidden agenda or hold anything back.

- This is not a 9 to 5 job. Deadlines will be aggressive, and you will work hard to meet them, even when your work is not being monitored.

- You're able to communicate nuanced ideas precisely and in an easy to understand way. Nobody has time to decode what someone else is trying to say.

- You understand how we work, what we are, what are plans are, what we are okay and not okay with, and generate ideas in sync with our company vision and plans. You also gel with the team and become friends, which helps us all work together more effectively.

- If possible, based in Bangalore or willing to move here.

I'm open to a high performance-linked pay, such as a bonus for achieving an agreed-upon revenue target.
