Strategic Communications Manager
Position Summary :
The incumbent will oversee the execution of a comprehensive annual strategic communications plan to increase the visibility of our work. This is to ensure our outcomes are understood by key stakeholders, policy makers and partner governments.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Support the team in organizing key events, lead the development and design of appropriate messaging and collaterals aimed at raising awareness and enhancing visibility of our work.
- Collaborate with the program teams to amplify our initiatives with impactful communications that will resonate with partners worldwide.
- Serve as a project leader for any PR related activities and nurture relationships with media outlets.
An ideal candidate qualifications :
- Graduate with at least 8-12 years of strategic communications experience with demonstrated experience in creating impactful collateral.
- Manage communications around high-level convening events, roundtables, workshops, and virtual events, as needed to facilitate strategic engagement, participation, awareness building and build partnerships.
- Lead the dissemination of research pieces, blogs, infographics and other communications products through appropriate channels and/or events. Manage the co-creation of student stories, voices from the field, videos on strategic initiatives and other communications materials.
- Oversee successful relaunch of all website designs on budget and on time. Create compelling content for search engine optimization for website and social media visibility boost.
- Experienced in email marketing, digital campaigns and social media visibility.
- Bright, intelligent & upbeat individual who would love the excitement of a fast-paced environment and be able to work with minimal supervision and is biased towards action.
- Succinct verbal and written communications skills. Considered an expert in MS Office and presentations. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects is important.

Reporting structure : They will report into the Director of Fundraising and Communications and work very closely with the co-CEOs. There will also be extensive cross-functional interaction for content. A communications specialist will also report into the Strategic Communications Manager.

About Avanti Fellows :
- Avanti Fellows is a 14 year-old not-for-profit organization founded by IIT Bombay Alum, Akshay Saxena. Avanti's mission is to help students lift themselves & their families out of poverty in a single generation through access to quality careers in STEM. Avanti works with large government school systems (Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti) to create system-wide test-preparation programs for national entrance exams for engineering, medical and other technical education in STEM.
- Avanti's programs serve over 30,000 high-school students (Grades 9-12), across 20 states and 6 union territories. More than 50% of Avanti's students are girls. Once enrolled, students receive rigorous academic tutoring for 12-20 hours per week in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. In addition to academic tutoring, our programs focus on career guidance and building critical life skills like agency and self-efficacy. We run additional programming for Girl students that focuses on overcoming gender-stereotypes and increasing participation in STEM careers (specially technical courses).
